The Two Worlds - Part II

The continuation of my hypotheses on the Theory of Magic.

The Organized World

I don't want to sound like a control freak, but there really is a Divine Will that gets reflected on the World through the mediation of the Magician. In Fig. 1, I have attempted to give an outline of the 3 main states of the Magical Mind. The most common Magician in our age is the one which has completely identified with the 'I'. The 'I' is the rational problem solver part of the Self. The problem solver acts as a fountain of Divine Wisdom, thereby creating 'Intelligent Chaos'. Intelligent Chaos can be thought of as the Chaos community that takes shape from the fragments of wisdom spilled out by the Magician tuned to the wrong frequency. This happens completely in the unconscious, but can be traced as some part of it is verbal. I term this as 'Black Magic'. It also explains why 'Black Magic' is always an attempt at it, but never the accomplishment. If the Magician becomes a slave of desire, mundane presence, and longing for experience, he creates a large and fragmented aura like a Red Giant that occurs after a Supernova. In this aura, he is ostracized as ever, while his desires shape the World around him. The first step in applying oneself to Magic is the experience of this tragedy. The tragedy is an effective teacher, but also a state of existence. The Magician can identify with the 'I' as long as he desires, but the results will never be what he expects.

Having gotten Life Experience as a liberator (Black Magician), the Magician feels the need to move towards new experiences. The second phase of magical Life involves a return to the 'Ehieh' consciousness. This is the primordial consciousness without Object Relations. What Freud termed 'Narcissism' takes the main stage. This is different from Egoism, which is sometimes named as Narcissistic Personality. The Narcissism of the Magician is the return to an infantile state of the Self to empower the Mind. This state involves the rejection of all the past Object identifications and Object frustrations in order to clear the way for the Higher Genius to merge with the Spirit. The effect of this reversal of the Mind is the Depression of the Ego material around the Magician, as the Collective Ego disintegrates into 'Discordant Material'. Both Black Magic and Magic mean that the Self of the Magician is formed without Boundaries and shape the Unconscious without difficulty. The Magician can build a new environment by his private act. The Mind of the Magician can change his environment without verbal or physical contact, through the Astral matter. The exercise continues until the state of 'Peace' is achieved. In this state, the Magician is both the Creator and the participant of the World, but ascending in the planes have also purified him. Hence, he is All Powerful when his desires and expectations are in tune with the Divine Will.

As Above so Below

The Self of the Magician is submerged in the Thaumaturgic waters for the most part of his life. The mundane presence obliges a more mundane Self that can only form through Magic. The primordial forces at the disposal of the Magician can be energized by the 'Ehieh' consciousness. The security and fecundity of the Self becomes a barometer for the Magical activity. A lot of setbacks and disharmony in daily life prompts the Magician to go into solitude. Consciousness in solitude is when the Narcissistic libido re-energizes the forsaken Archetype. If the solitude is prolonged, deeper and stronger Archetypes can be resurrected. In this game, the Self, over time, becomes the object of mundane Life. It is very natural that the World turns to the Sun who provides it the impetus. The Self can be honored in its endeavours such as Wealth, Fame, Lust, Control, etc. If the Spirit abstains from these, the Temptation gradually becomes hard to bear, while the Shadow gets more deeply entrenched. The duty of each Self is to forego Illusion for Solitary Devotion.
